Every time I take a look at some digital frames out there I get a tingling sensation as people could only picture those would exist in Science Fiction movies years ago and now they are a reality. Who knows what SF feature will appear in the future and will take over our lives. Getting back to the subject at hand, we can notice Viewsonic getting into this SF (for me) topic and launching their first ever digital frame. It will come with an 8 inch wide screen frame that can cover a nice 800 X 480 pixels resolution and can display the most popular movie formats while coming with integrated speaker for different MP3 sounds you might choose to include plus a remote control. Everything sums up to the quite affordable amount of $200, which is not much if we are thinking about decorating our home with high fi technology in mind.ViewSonic will also appear with an 8 inch DF87G frame that will bear an 800 X 600 resolution. We can basically choose from a wide screen or regular frame model but the good news is that the regular gadget will be under $200. To make things even better, a third version of the ViewSonice digital photo frame will also appear on the market and it will come with a 7 inch DP701W4 wide screen that will bear a resolution of 800 X 600, a 400 to 1 contrast ratio, a response time of 30 ms and a 220 cd/m2 brightness.

Unfortunately we still do not know how much storage space we will get for the frames but ViewSonic did say that it will be enough to hold around 400 photos shot at 5 megapixels. As expected, pictures will be transferred via USB or memory card from the camera or computer directly to the digital frame. An official announcement is expected in a few weeks concerning the company’s digital photo frames line and we do know that the plans are for around 10 digital frames types to be built.

Every gadget lover out there enjoys having some fun with some remote controlled gizmos and the new Palm Z Silverlift Mini RC Airplane (quite a complicated name isn’t it?) is bound to be purchased by some individuals out there. It is as much fun as the Picco Z if you take away the landing and vertical takeoff bits. Eh, it does not really matter as the Palm Z Silverlift… comes with some features that will make if very interesting. For starters, it will charge from the controller because the Palm Z connects directly to an adapter in the controller. This is much faster and easier than utilizing a cord. The Palm Z comes with the possibilities of descending, climbing and taking left and right moves, all in the controller. It is very impact resistant so you will be happy to find out that this nifty little gadget will not get destroyed if you fail a landing. If you are looking for speed the Palm Z is not for you as it flies at slow speed but hey, you can even perform some loops if you try hard enough. By utilizing different frequencies you can even fly 3 Palm Z Silverlifts at the same time. Be prepared to pay $39.50 if you want to purchase it and have fun!

We are now near the one year mark of PlayStation 3 existence and we must say that things did not go as Sony pictured it. The highly popular PlayStation 2 is still leading in sales for the company and it is not the PSP or the PS3 as many did expect. We saw that last month there were 215 thousand PS2 sold. Only 119,400 PlayStation 3 game consoles were sold. Why is this happening? Well, the answer is obvious. For the regular gamer, the low price of the PS2 and the many games available are the two reasons why it is still preferred. On the other hand, the PlayStation 3 video game console is not cheap and does not come with many available titles to showcase.

This is the seventh year of existence for the PlayStation 2 and it still has incredible market strength. On the other hand, this is quite good for Sony as they do claim their video game consoles come with a 10 year life cycle when planned. We are still 3 years away from this mark though and it is hard to imagine that the PS2 will still hold on when compared with the PS3 until that mark. This video game console will eventually be left out but we are soon getting into the holiday season and Sony still wants to profit from the PlayStation 2 video game console. The company will be launching a special edition Ceramic White PlayStation 2 console that will come with 2 microphones and SingStarPro included. We can also see that Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3 will be launched for PS2 soon so we must think that the console is still important for Sony.

It is official! We now know of the Samsung new G800 slider, a superb mobile phone that comes with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera. Also, the design is very nice and the metallic form is quite interesting and will surely draw customers. On the other hand, the 5 megapixel camera is not the most appealing feature this mobile phone has to offer. We need to think about something else, which was never seen again in a mobile phone: xenon flash and 3X optical zoom. Many individuals will think that this cell phone is a digital camera from the back because of the design. We can also notice the usuals: HSDPA, Bluetooth, QVGA display and everything else that would expect from a mobile phone labeled Samsung. The only problem you might find (that is if you live in US) is that the mobile phone only has an European launch date at the beginning of November. The price is still not announced!

We have seen efforts from LG, Philips, Hitachi and Sharp announcing some pretty interesting ultra thin LCDs and we wanted to see when Samsung is going to do something similar. We did not have to wait for long as Samsung just announced the new 0.39 inch thin, 40 inch based LED backlit HD LCD TV, which comes and covers 92 percent of the NTSC color gamut and consumes just around 90 watts of power. We are talking here about a very nice looking 1080p LCD TV and all we can really think about is: wow that is thin! We still do not know anything about an official name, price or shipping date. On the other hand, this new HD LCD TV from Samsung is going to be profiled at the FPD International in Japan.

Oh boy do I hate pink but hey, girls usually love that color and it does look good in some gadgets. This is the case in October because it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On the other hand, you might think that breasts would have nothing to do with the fact that Ford and Microsoft are teaming together. Well, they do because this team will donate 100 percent of the purchase price of some special edition Zune models to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The 30 GB Zunes sold are first generation models and we do not really know how many will be available for the offer but we do see it as a limited edition gadget. Well, if you do not own a second generation Zune, I suppose this is cool, so you can grab one of these pink Zunes for $249.99 Any Takers?

Skype made an interesting announcement in teaming up with MySpace. It seems that users of the social network will receive some sort of free Skype calls. Quite an offer! On the other hand, there is something else that Skype is proud of now. It seems that the company hit a record in 10 million users connected at the same type on Skype’s global network. In 2004 they celebrated the fact that they had 1 million users logged on at the same time and now we get to see that amount increased in just 3 years. On the other hand Skype still has some problems to deal with and 10 million users does not mean money in the mix.

Few people know that Hitachi was the first manufacturer to break the 1 TB hard disk barrier. Well, they are a force in this field of activity and they come now with something else that is definitely amazing. Hitachi steps up with a claim that they will release a 4TB 3.5 inch hard disk drive and a 1TB laptop 2.5 inch hard disk drive in the next 4 years. It looks like the new recording heads will be around 2,000 times smaller than human hair. Ain’t that something? It will be interesting to see whether or not this will appear sooner and it will definitely bring in a need for other manufacturers to improve personal computer and laptop specs in the near future. Technology is evolving at an incredible rate. Soon my personal laptop will be out of date, although I just purchased it!

Nokia’s N95 is truly a very good mobile phone. We will now get to see it even better thanks to the 8GB version that is already shipping. Those that want to purchase the new 8GB Nokia N95 will get some improvements with this new model. We now have a bigger display of 2.8 inch at a 240X320 resolution and we will also see nice features like HSDPA, WiFi, A-GPS plus a very good 5 megapixel camera that is already standard in N95. Possible customers will also receive a gift as they will see the Spiderman 3 movie pre-loaded in the mobile phone. It was interesting to see a storyline behind this addition to the mobile phone. According to an official statement, Spiderman saw his suit turn black and once with that he found enhanced powers. A parallel is built with Nokia 95 as the mobile phone also underwent a similar transformation in now becoming the Nokia N95 8GB. OK, leaving that aside, the Nokia N95 8GB will appear in stores soon and will cost around $800.

Well, gamers from around the world have been waiting for Unreal Tournament 3 for a long time now. We still do not have the game out but at least we have a little teaser to play with. The only bad news I can give you is that you will not be enjoying a full demo but only 2 deathmatch maps and one capture the flag map. Although different modifications are sure to appear, testing with this little beta will be fun. BEWARE! The demo has 741.03 MB. Kind of leaves me wondering how big the game will be when it will be fully launched!
