Apple 13 Inch MacBook Laptop Review
It was introduced in the fall of 2006 but it is still one of the most popular laptops today. The Apple 13-inch MacBook laptop appeared as a revolutionary product that combined the company’s own operating system with Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs. We must also add different Apple extras like iLive software, MagSafe, Front Row remote and the iSight camera. We can consider this gadget to be one of the most loved laptops currently available on the market. To make it all even better, ever since the launch Apple continued to issue various hardware upgrades that added to CPU power and kept price acceptable. The newest updated appeared in November 2007 and it upgraded the CPU to a beautiful 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo while also adding the Santa Rosa platform and improved integrated graphics. The result was a small boost in performance but the tip of the cake is not the hardware update. You are most likely to be interested in the new Leopard version of the OS X operating system. It does come installed with new MacBooks and it adds different new features that are quite useful, thus keeping the Apple 13 Inch MacBook a top recommendation although people do want to have a new laptop to play with.
The $1,099 level MacBook is actually only available in white although we can say that we did see a lot more black versions, which start at around $1,499 around us. Talking strictly about design, this one does look a lot better when compared with the plastic look filled white MacBook, although it is still not as sexy as the metallic MacBook Pro.
The Apple MacBook laptop comes with a minimalist setup, just as we would expect from Apple. We have a power button, a sizable touch pad with one mouse button, a full-sized keyboard and the iSight camera that is located right above the display. You will not find a typical scroll bar like in regular Windows based laptops but you can use the 2-finger scroll option, which, I might add, works very well. Windows users will also have a problem with the Apple flat-key keyboard as the del key does work like a backspace key and there is no standard key that works as the Delete Button. On the other hand this will not be a big problem. Talking about the keyboard, compared with previous versions of MacBooks, we can notice that some functions on F keys were changed and moved around.
Users will notice that the biggest new feature is Leopard. The main look and feel is not changed much but we do have some new features that are quite interesting. We can notice Time Machine, an easy to use utility aimed towards backup. Spaces will make it possible to set up different multiple desktops. For instance, you can have one with web pages open and another one with applications. Changing between them is pretty easy and using Quick Look will make it easier for you to quickly preview a file without having to open the associated application. The LCD display comes in wide-screen mode and can read a native resolution of 1,280X800, standard for a screen of 13.3 inches. Talking about possible Internet connectivity, we do have support for 8.0.qqn Wi-Fi but we still do not have a SD card reader. Mobile broadband addition can be difficult.
The fact is that there is not a huge difference in this generation of MacBook as compared with a previous one so there is no real reason why you would buy a new one. On the other hand, the faster CPU and the Santa Rosa platform do bring in improvement. The battery life is also impressive when compared with regular Windows based laptops. You can expect a battery life higher than 4 hours and a half if you are doing regular chores like office use and web surfing. The Apple 13 Inch MacBook laptop comes with one year of warranty coverage and telephone support is limited to 90 days. If you pay an extra $249 you will obtain the AppleCare Protection Plan. It extends both repair coverage and phone support periods to three years.
