Adultery and Perjury Discovered Through Text Messages

We did not think that it was possible but it sure seems so! Never use a government supplied pager, mobile phone or anything else for cybersex or important text messages if you are a public employee! It is all so simple but it sure seems like Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick did not know this. An investigation started by the Detroit Free Press recently exposed the mayor as a possible perjurer. The newspaper got their hands on around 14 thousand sms messages between Kilpatrick and chief of staff Christine Beatty. As you can imagine, the content of the messages was pretty interesting (or it would not appear here or on the Internet anywhere).

The two people involved here have testified in a trial that there was no relationship between them and that the firing of deputy police chief Gary Brown in 2003 did not exist. It seems like they were not really telling the truth! One message stated clearly about the “decision that we made to fire Gary Brown” and it was written by Beatty. Now since you probably do not care about that, let us talk about the love chat too! On April 8th 2003 Beatty wrote: “And, did you miss me, sexually?” and Kilpatrick answered: “Hell yeah! You couldn’t tell. I want some more.” That does sound interesting doesn’t it? How about a message sent on October 16th of 2002 by Kilpatrick stating: “I’ve been dreaming all day about having you all to myself for 3 days. Relaxing, laughing, talking, sleeping and making love.”

According to the newspaper it seems that a lot of the messages were sexually explicit but most of them were not released to the public. Now both Kilpatrick and Beatty are quite in a bundle of trouble. If they are found guilty of perjury and convicted it could mean 15 years of prison with no touching and “making love”, not even through text messages. To make it even worse, Kilpatrick can also face disbarment because of lying under oath.
