Sony Ericsson W890i Review

The Sony Ericsson W890i is basically a Walkman branded new version of the phone that appeared after the W880i. It comes equipped with Walkman Player 3.0 and also features a 3.2 megapixel camera and Sony’s IO. Everything comes in a candybar like form that is not that big. The SOny Ericsson W890i is an European only cell phone although the company does want it to appear in US as well soon.

On the whole the phone is a great media player although it is not a smartphone. It is similar to the W880i as it has full media playback and even a front side camera that is useful for video conferencing. We can also notice various music linked applications including TrackID and the SensMe music mapper. Compared with the W880i the Sony Ericsson W890i has a higher resolution camera, a 3.2 megapixels model as compared with the 2.0 megapixel model in the earlier version mobile phone.

Talking about the Walkman 3.0 interface we can say that it is quite easy to use and well organized. Everything is responsive and the home screen actually dedicates one soft key to the player. There is also another one on the side that has the same purpose. This makes it easy to start the media player at all times and combined with SensMe (which analyzes the tempo of the song thus determining the mood while mapping the songs on a graph that you can select) makes for a great media playing experience on the Sony Ericsson W890i. The camera takes pretty good pictures and you will also find all the classic features you might want in a mobile phone: games, bluetooth, productivity applications and so on.

On the whole the SOny Ericsson W890i is a pretty good and simple music phone that should be enough for individuals that are looking for simplicity and reliability. The price tag is around 300 pounds.
