Computer Games Improve Math Scores
It has been proved that computer games do have a positive effect on kids when thinking about math scores. This is stated due to a study that took place in Scotland. Learning and Teaching Scotland tried to analyze the effects of a game that what was labeled as a “brain training” game. 600 pupils from 32 schools took place in this study and they played the Brain Training game done by Dr Kawashima on a Nintendo DS game console daily.
Pupils went through the test for nine weeks on a daily basis. They would play the game for 20 minutes. Another group did not use the game and only worked school problems and learned using conventional methods. Tests were done at the beginning and the end of the study. The result was that both groups improved their math scores but the group that played the Brain Training game did so with an extra 50% advantage. Even the time it took to take the tests dropped. The conclusion: pay attention to the fact that maybe your kids should play video games.
