AMD and NVIDIA Attack Intel on USB 3.0 Topic
According to AMD and nVIDIA, Intel is not sharing their specs for the USB 3.0 open host controller. It is officially expected to appear on the market in 2009 and comes with a lot of bandwidth upgrade when compared with the USB 2.0 so we are dealing with something special here. The possibility of going ahead in this market could lead to a lot of money and there is a big chance that both AMD and nVIDIA think that Intel is trying to do this.
USB-IF was founded in 1995 by Intel in collaboration with others like HP, Microsoft, NEC, NXP Semiconductors and Texs Instruments. USB-IF is now working together to bring USB 3.0 to life (it is also being called “PCI Express over cable” so you might also find it under this name). Bandwidth will be increased 10 times as compared with USB 2.0 and transfer will be at around 5 gigabits per second. A lot of the intellectual property behind this new technology was not created by Intel but nVIDIA and AMD think that the company is currently holding a lot of information to itself. They claim that Intel is working silicon so the open host controller is working but they are not giving specifications to chipset and processor Read more »

A lot of sources in the hard drive industry claim that Western Digital is currently working on a Raptor Hard Drive that would come at 20,000 RPM. This is linked with the fact that analysts consider that SSDs will soon become affordable in around 1 year and SSD manufacturers are working hard on toping each other. Also, hard drive manufacturers are currently worrying about the impact that SSDs can have on their business because performance is becoming more linked with other aspects than storage capacity. This is where the Raptor line has an advantage.
I remember some time ago when my hard drive crashed and I couldn’t recover anything from it. As time passed technology evolved and now we do have one web site that is perfect if you are looking for hard drive recovery. I am sure that you will say that there are many that do so but after a lot of research done, I can say that one is definitely to be recommended. This site is

Everybody that has a Blu-Ray burner probably loves it and the biggest mistery that existed so far linked with this topic is how come burners appeared first. Well, this just changed as Sony finally announced a Blu-Ray reader only that is available for both PCs and laptops. We are talking about the new BDU-X10S, which comes at a MSRP of $200. If you are thinking about purchasing one you should know that with the Blu-Ray reader you will also receive CyberLink’s PowerDVD BD Edition. Both drives (the one of laptop and personal computer) come with a SATA interface. Before you jump to any conclusion you need to think about the fact that SATA is the right choice as it is the interface chosen by new personal computers, which will actually come with enough power to play high definition in a proper way. Well, if anyone gets a Sony BDU-X10S before me, make sure that you comment.
There is no question about the fact that the mobile phone world suffered a great impact by the appearance of the iPhone and everybody is starting to think about touchscreen as a needed feature in cell phones. Of course there are also others that will not agree with this but the one thing that people do not realize is that other mobile phone makers did offer touchscreen devices before the appearance of the iPhone. Well, let us leave history as history and focus on this piece of technology news that shows us Nokia trying to hit Apple where it hurts: the lack of tactile feedback from the onscreen keyboard. It seems there is some new technology that can do this and it is named Haptikos technology.
Intel has constantly taunted us recently with the launch of their 45 nanometer chips but I am sure they did not expect Panasonic to be a contender in this race. It might be possible that the company is going to beat Intel at its own game with a release that is scheduled one week earlier. It looks like the new Blu Ray recorders presented at CEATEC will use the company’s new UniPhier system LSI, all based on the 45 nanometer process technology. The units will be released in Japan (again Japan, Jesus) no the 1st of November. This is actually 10 days before Intel’s Yorkfield launch. Nobody expected this but it might be interesting to see how things develop.
