Yamaha NX-BO2 - Bluetooth Speakers

Yamaha Bluetooth Speakers

My mobile phone is a Samsung SGH-E340. I love it as it is small, black and audio quality is very good when it comes to MP3. What I do not like is the fact that I do not have infrared options and I also do not have a data cable with it. I only have bluetooth and this bugged me until I got a hold of this baby: the Yamaha NX-BO2. This device provides wireless streaming audio from any Bluetooth enabled device, including my cell phone. With the Enhanced Data Rate standard, it provides the fastest Bluetooth 2.0 connection yet. The speakers are powered by an A/C adapter or by 4 AA batteries. It is not special when you think about it and NX-BO2 only comes with 2X5 W amplification. On the other hand, the speakers only cost 150 EURO and availability is only in Europe. The launch date is scheduled for December (making it a pretty interesting Christmas gift). Availability in USA is still not known but I am sure to grab them as soon as they come out, just to make sure that my mobile phone does not seem useless anymore.

Toshiba Launches Two New DLP Projectors

Toshiba TDP-EX20

People that are into DLP projectors will be delighted to find out that Toshiba just launched two new such devices: the TDP-EW25 and the TDP-EX20. The first one brings a WXGA (180X800) resolution with 2600 lumen and a contrast ratio of 2000 to 1 while the second one has the same specs except for a reduced resolution (XGA 1024X768) and 2300 lumen picture. Toshiba claims that TDP-EW25’s 1.3 meter throw distance is an industry first although that is not accurate but is impressive. The TDP-EX20 has an even bigger throw of 1.5 meters. Networked projection is supported on both models. As always, the first sales date is scheduled for Japan on the 25th of October. The TDP-EW25 will then be sold for around $3,900. The TDP-EX20 will be cheaper at $3,400 and will go on sale on the 20th of September.

Mitsubishi to Launch the LVP-HC6000 Projector

Mitsubishi LVP-HC6000Mitsubishi is in the around $3000 projector game now with the new LVP-HC6000. It comes in direct competition with the Panasonic PT-AE100U and Epson Powerlite projectors and can keep up and even surpass them because of some features.

Design wise it is not that innovative but the projected image is the one that really counts with this model. We have here a three-chip LCD projector that can put out a contrast ratio of 12,000 to 1 according to Mitsubishi. This spec is achieved thanks to an automatic iris mechanism that adjusts dynamically based on the brightness of the scene used. What is truly surprizing is the “sirocco fan” announced, one that puts out only 19dB. This would make it the quietest projector ever designed and an important feature in making clients purchase it.

October is the announced release date for the LVP-HC6000 in Japan and if it is successful it will surely reach USA as well in the near future. The price will probably be around $3000 and a little more in US. According to Mitsubishi PR office, this version of the projector will not be sold in America but:

“This product is for Japan only; the product that is being introduced in the US market has a different name, specs and price.”

No matter when or how, the Mitsubishi LVP-HC6000 will reach USA eventually and if the two main features (contrast ratio and noise) are kept, we will have a really competing 1080p projector here.
