Panasonic and AT&T offer Toughbook with 3g AT&T BroadbandConnect

Toughbook 30

The Toughbook-30 and Toughbook-19 convertible tables by Panasonic are now linked with the 3G AT&T BroadbandConnect data network. We can witness an alliance between AT&T and Panasonic that announces the full certification and availability of the two models on UMTS/HSDPA-based 3G. To make things even better, the announcement also comes with an offer aimed at making it more convenient for users to buy Panasonic ToughBook mobile computers and AT&T services through sales relationship and combined marketing towards different applications and industries. We are talking about public safety, transporting, utilities and more. These two companies have offered combined 3G wireless solutions ever since 2005 so it is no surprise that this close collaboration leads to high performance data solutions for many costumers that might need it. With the new combination, Toughbook notebooks come with mobile broadband access in 165 major metropolitan locations in the USA and global wireless data capability is available through HSDPA-UMTS, together with EDGE or GPRS services in around 135 countries thanks to international data plans by AT&T. All this sums up to 3G BroadbandConnect and EDGE networks access for Toughbook notebooks in around 13,000 cities.

So, we have an interesting solution at hand. We still do not know the official prices but the Toughbook notebook and built in AT&T 3G BroadbandConnect services will sell for around $3,800 for the Toughbook 19 and $3,900 for the Toughbook 30.

Aurora M900If you want to have more storage spage on one notebook, Alienware brings a great solution to the table. The company claims that they are the first company that will offer Samsung’s 2.5 inch 320 GB hard drive in both single and dual device configurations on notebooks. So we have RAID 0 and RAID 1 systems with 17 inches Area-51 m9750 and Aurora m9700 notebooks. A dual drive notebook will cost around $2400.

On the other hand, if you want even more space, you could opt for Eurocom’s mobile workstations. You can order them with three 2.5 inches 250 GB hard drives. Each costs $469. It is your choice.

Packard Bell EasyNote XS

Packard Bell EasyNote XS

Packard Bell recently announced the launch of the new EasyNote XS, a notebook that looks very well. It is just 7 inch and has advanced portability with a fully features PD running Windows XP Home Edition. The EasyNote XS is just 30 mm thin and weighs 950 grams. You can not get any more portable than that. Packard Bell thought of it as being a mobile companion, something between the full size notebooks that are too big and PDAs that are to limited in features. Emmanuel Fromont, marketing vice president of Packard Bell said:

“For all of us who wants to stay connected in a comfortable way, this is the perfect companion. It has all the functionalities of a notebook – it just happens to be very small.”

When it comes to portability we all know that size matters so this notebook really looks good for me. The EasyNote XS is built on the VIA C7-M Ultra Mobile Platform and boasts a full size keyboard, has Wi-Fi, VGA webcam, two USB ports, stereo speakers and a 4 in 1 memory card reader. The hard disk is big enough for a notebook at 30 GB and the device supports up to 1024 MB RAM. It even works on Windows XP Home Edition, just like a personal computer. Fujitsu claims its battery life is longer than 3 hours, with Wi-Fi turned on. Inside sources claim it will be sold in UK at the end of the year although this and price were not confirmed in any way. What is for sure is that, for a lot of people out there that do not need too much from a laptop, the EasyNote XS might be bought for using it as a portable personal computer.
