Western Digital’s 20,000 RPM Raptor HDD

A lot of sources in the hard drive industry claim that Western Digital is currently working on a Raptor Hard Drive that would come at 20,000 RPM. This is linked with the fact that analysts consider that SSDs will soon become affordable in around 1 year and SSD manufacturers are working hard on toping each other. Also, hard drive manufacturers are currently worrying about the impact that SSDs can have on their business because performance is becoming more linked with other aspects than storage capacity. This is where the Raptor line has an advantage.

The new Western Digital hard drive line is sure to be highly popular although it is quite similar to the new VelociRaptor. It will share similarities in the 2.5 in drive and the 3.5 inch housing. We do not have a lot of details about the topic as everything is still in development and no time frame has been released. According to some sources the hard drive is supposed to be silent and will feature an incredible platter spinning speed of 20,000 RPM. It seems that Western Digital did not manage to get this silent part well done yet and progress aimed to be achieved through an improvement in housing.

Hard Drive Recovery Made Simple

DTI DataI remember some time ago when my hard drive crashed and I couldn’t recover anything from it. As time passed technology evolved and now we do have one web site that is perfect if you are looking for hard drive recovery. I am sure that you will say that there are many that do so but after a lot of research done, I can say that one is definitely to be recommended. This site is Hard Drive Recovery and is one service that does stand out in front of the competition. We are dealing with a lot of benefits and we will only mention some of them and invite you to discover the others.

First off, we are not just dealing with fixed prices on hard drive repair. This website will offer free upfront flat rate price quotes on every single hard drive data recovery you need to do. This basically means that you will know where the recovery price stays (more or less) and if we combine this with the data guarantee that the company offers on every single hard drive recovery (which states that if no data is recovered there will be no charge) and we have a pretty good deal that comes with a no loss offer.

Another important aspect we need to discuss is the Data Recovery Resources page on the web site. Few people realize that we are dealing with data recovery software that is 100% manufactured by the company and approved as high quality by various resources including PC Magazine. Every single bit of software sold on this site is manufactured in house so you can not get it anywhere else. A lot of people are wondering about the possibility of recovering data from hard drives and you need to know that it is possible in most cases. What is special about this website is that if it is possible it will be done. You have testimonials from well known celebrities like Shaggy or Matt Geiger and this is one service that you can really trust. If you need even more credentials you can also contact Cisco, Campbell’s Soup, Ford Motor Company, NASA, the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and so on. They are all clients of the company when talking about hard drive recovery and the list is quite a lot bigger than what was mentioned. We recommend that you visit the website and take a look at what they have to offer. If you need their services, place a call and ask for any detail that is not clear. We are sure you will make the right choice.

SimpleDrive 500 GB Portable Hard Drive from SimpleTech

SimpleTech SimpleDrive 500 GB Portable Hard Disk DriveJust as the 250 GB SimpleDrive model, this 500 GB version comes wrapped in a tapered case that is styled by designer Pininfarina. It weighs 2 pounds and its measurements are 8.2 X 5.1 X 1.5 inches. We are dealing with a drive that is aimed at changing between systems and not taking on a trip with you. The 500GB SimpleDrive portable hard drive manufactured by SimpleTech is not as portable as a Maxtor OneTouch 4 mini or as big as a 750 GB FreeAgent Pro by Seagate. On the other hand one factor that is highly important and is good stands in the listed price ($169.99) and this provides a great price per gigabyte factor.

We see a very useful one click backup button on the top of the drive that features the SimpleTech logo and is surrounded by a capacity meter that is very useful as it lets you know how much free space you have. When less than 10 percent of storage capacity is free you will also see it flashing, which basically means you should think about freeing some space. The 3.5 inch hard drive spins at 7,200 RPM and comes with 8 MB of cache buffer while Read more »

ViewSonic’s Digital Photo Frame Line Preview

Digital Photo Frame

Every time I take a look at some digital frames out there I get a tingling sensation as people could only picture those would exist in Science Fiction movies years ago and now they are a reality. Who knows what SF feature will appear in the future and will take over our lives. Getting back to the subject at hand, we can notice Viewsonic getting into this SF (for me) topic and launching their first ever digital frame. It will come with an 8 inch wide screen frame that can cover a nice 800 X 480 pixels resolution and can display the most popular movie formats while coming with integrated speaker for different MP3 sounds you might choose to include plus a remote control. Everything sums up to the quite affordable amount of $200, which is not much if we are thinking about decorating our home with high fi technology in mind.ViewSonic will also appear with an 8 inch DF87G frame that will bear an 800 X 600 resolution. We can basically choose from a wide screen or regular frame model but the good news is that the regular gadget will be under $200. To make things even better, a third version of the ViewSonice digital photo frame will also appear on the market and it will come with a 7 inch DP701W4 wide screen that will bear a resolution of 800 X 600, a 400 to 1 contrast ratio, a response time of 30 ms and a 220 cd/m2 brightness.

Unfortunately we still do not know how much storage space we will get for the frames but ViewSonic did say that it will be enough to hold around 400 photos shot at 5 megapixels. As expected, pictures will be transferred via USB or memory card from the camera or computer directly to the digital frame. An official announcement is expected in a few weeks concerning the company’s digital photo frames line and we do know that the plans are for around 10 digital frames types to be built.

Hitachi’s 4 TB Hard Disk Drive Promise

Few people know that Hitachi was the first manufacturer to break the 1 TB hard disk barrier. Well, they are a force in this field of activity and they come now with something else that is definitely amazing. Hitachi steps up with a claim that they will release a 4TB 3.5 inch hard disk drive and a 1TB laptop 2.5 inch hard disk drive in the next 4 years. It looks like the new recording heads will be around 2,000 times smaller than human hair. Ain’t that something? It will be interesting to see whether or not this will appear sooner and it will definitely bring in a need for other manufacturers to improve personal computer and laptop specs in the near future. Technology is evolving at an incredible rate. Soon my personal laptop will be out of date, although I just purchased it!

Picture: Then and Now
