This TV is a good TV, but don’t buy from Amazon because the shipping is big problem, I bought this TV from amazon 1 week ago, they use CEVA ( CEVA logistics ) for delivery service, this company did NOT contact me to setup an appointment for delivery, they just come and call me and ask me why I was not waiting ? I have to rush back home. When I arrived home, CEVA logistics person already open the box in front of my door and set it up already, they should not do that to my brand new TV. The delivery person had very bad attitude and rushed me to sign the delivery documents, I’m really not happy with Amazon’s service. Also, they gave me the WRONG tracking information so I can’t even track the package. Don’t buy this good TV from Amazon.
——— Not giving the TV 1 Star———
When you buy a TV from Amazon they use a transport company called Pilot. My TV arrived in a yellow non-descript small van. I was outside to watch them unload and I was shocked to see that all the HDTVs in the van were vertical, they were not tied down and most were tipped over. It explicitly says on the box to store and transport these items horizontally. They should be sliding the boxes in and out of the van horizontally through the back doors!(not lifting them in and out through the side doors). I’m glad I wasn’t buying the Panasonic that was in the van. They don’t even put a blanket or something on the floor of the van. Needless to say, neither Amazon nor Pilot really care about such matters. One look inside the van will tell you this.
I bought this TV in May 2009, 2 days after they were made available in the stores..I am probably one of the first one to own this TV..
Since that time, I am on my fourth (Yes 4 ! ) remote control.
The first one stop working in September, it took me 13 phone calls and 8 weeks of waiting time to get a new remote from Samsung customer service, I will rank their customer service the second worse after Verizon…
In the mean time I could not wait, so I bought another one from a Samsung dealer in NJ. This one broke after 3 weeks..
The second one from Samsung also lasted only 4 weeks.
Now I am using #4 for 2 weeks, and so far it is working, wow, $3,200 TV and I have a working remote..
Other than that, I think the picture is far better than any other LCD…but given the bad customer service I got from Samsung, I think you will BE better off buying a SONY or VISIO, you may not notice the difference in the picture quality, but you will be very unhappy to talk to Samsung customer service, particularly if you call after 6;00 P.M..I do not want to repeat the stupid things they said…buy one of them blamed me and said : “may be you do not know know how to operate a TV remote control” and I replied ” you are talking to a P.E.” and she said “what city is that?”.. ha ha hah
I think that the strengths of the TV have been discussed well enough in other reviews so I thought I would point some things out that disappointed me.
1. I have two Computers hooked up via HDMI cable and in the beginning there was a noticeable display lag until I turned on “Game Mode”. It took me a while to figure this out and it wasn’t obvious. With the display lag also came audio problems because the audio was too fast when I connected my speakers so movies didn’t sync up properly but again this was fixed with the “Game Mode”.
2. There is no way to mute the TV’s auxiliary sound so unless you have a remote for your speakers you are out of luck.
3. The mini remote could use a “sources” button. This is one of the buttons on the front of the TV and is in my opinion important enough to also be on the mini remote.
4. The default display size for both my PC and MAC was wrong and I had to change a setting in the TV to “fit to size” instead of the 16 X 9 setting.
5. The buttons on the front of the TV are really difficult to see in pretty much ANY kind of light that isn’t direct.
6. The people who delivered the TV refused to test it because it was “too cold outside” which was kind of weird. I’m not sure if this means the TV will somehow break in anything under room temperature but I haven’t had problems so far.
Despite these shortcomings I still really like the TV and would highly recommend it.
I just think some of the reviews posted here so far were a bit too rosy
I can’t say much that hasn’t already been said in other reviews, but the title says it all. well worth what amazon is charging right now.
